knitting and running

our lives are so beautifully fragile
some days i feel like
i am just a little dry leaf hovering along
the Autumn's thin air
coming down a big tree
to pose on the grass
or the floor

it is a mysterious awareness, this freedom
fearful might be sometimes
but blissful while comprehending
one breaths, in and then out
alive

your life could just end like that!
in a click
or a clack!
or…
out of a miracle
full of love and surprise
in a second
your fortune
can smile wide

life, owns quest of time

and i, now & then...
just because
run at nights
and
if the knees say yes!
i go fast fast fast!!!
natural seratonin
kicks in and...
then some imaginary air
sounds of velocity
move my hair
that caresses my back
a subtle trance

i ran now & then
lately
and then the knitting season
had also a come-back

i seem attracted
to mind-numbing activities
repetitive
peace induced?
maybe it is just the full moon
or das Herbst
or all of them
together (pause)
at once (pause)
buenas noches (pause)
y good-bye (ending sound)

mouse hunt

heh heh
silly movie
but it was nice to see this little chunk on TV
before leaving for work this morning

ich bin gut gelaunt
thinking of the little mouse

quotes

quotes are one of my guilty pleasures
couldn't resist this one...

"Instead of giving a politician the keys to the city, it might be better to change the locks."

du hast Geburtstag heute

¡Feliz cumpleaños!

i found this piece of a Liebeslied
in meine Deutschbuch, heh heh
i think, it is perfect for you today,
so here i copied it...

Wo mag meine Heimat sein?
Meine Heimat ist klein,
Geht von Ort zu Ort,
Nimmt mein Herz mit sich fort,
Gibt mir Weh, gibt mir Ruh;
Meine Heimat bist du.

Hermann Hesse (1877-1962)

ich hoffe du hast einen Freudentag
heute und immer!

the 'air' bath solution

following a wise advice
i finally took a bath tonight
after a week of a stiff neck
headaches, and finally
a migraine
i poured
some eucalyptus oil in the bath tube
some of my relaxing secret ingredient
turned down the lights
and played
& my favorite AIR EP:
Premiers Symptomes
which i think is probably one their best
early efforts
the tastiest downtempo synth-french-pop...

ah here a sample...
i hate YOUTUBE now, officially!
grrrr but i found it here
oh wow, i don't sound relax again
:(, maybe i need another bath! ;)
and more Air

wo die Zitronen blühn?

i've been at home the past 2 days
a little sick
yesterday i went for a little walk
and ended at one of the used bookstores
around my house

i was glad to find a Schubert's 200 song
for the piano & voice...

and what was my nice surprise!
I can still read music, sheets of music
die Musik, die Noten!
after all these years
without playing piano
which i did for many years...

and even nicer surprise was to understand this little chunk of Deutsch
wonderful Goethe's words
"wo die Zitronen blühn?" wonderful!
i read them and knew at once what they meant...

one of my dreams
to be able to read my favorite authors on their mother language
Julio Cortázar en Español
Julian Barnes in English
and why not?
maybe soon I can read
Herman Hesse auf Deutsch

lernen Deutsch

another busy afternoon
lerner Deutsch
die Stuhl draußen:
-kaffee! <-- die Zutat Zahlen eins
-vegetarian 'chicken' nuggets with Barbecue Sauce
-Erdäpfelpüree (afterall, i am learning Deutsch, potatoes are indispensable too!)
-die Bücher
-das Heft
-der Kugelschreiber
-die Bleistifte
-das Radiergummi

and after a couple of hours
i went for a little walk
escaped to a book store
and got me this kleine Buch
José Saramago's
"El Cuento de la Isla Desconocida"

the tale of the unknown island...
in Spanish, ah!
a spanish treat after all this Deutsch and English in my life

Saramago will provide some of my 1st language
when i have a little time! don't know when that
happen again...

egg sandwich

the problem with having access to the internet
is that one end up surrendering to the temptation
of posting almost anything
no matter how silly it is
not sure why
maybe a bit of a late altered state
but i cannot resist to post
my today's breakfast

-. a vegetarian breakfast pattie
(not as tasty as a real sausage one, but oh well, health comes first, the 'real' ones are reserved for special days...)
-. 1 cage-free egg (even if a little pricer, i make sure to buy "cage-free" eggs at the store, nothing like a hen/chicken 'free to run and scratch...' as one brand slogans...)
-. 1 whole grain english muffin (toasted or soft is your choice)
-. a-ha! for a little spice & punch, add some Jack Daniel's Horseradish mustard, yes! Jack Daniel's as in the Jack Daniels...

a great little breakfast full of protein, low fat and vegetarian

it was nicely accompanied by 1 (or was it 2? heh heh) cups of great home-brewed coffee, an Ethiopian medium roast, very nice... ah! a good start for a day

die Küche, still & again

because feels like the core of it all
the nest of most quirkinesses
of mine
for sure
i guess

the place where you can control
the miniature things that unveil your
real character
what you drink or what you don't
how many bites? and of what?
the closest to basic human behaviors
food and the time for it
and drinks
and just as basic as walks
and each other's eyes to stare...
you can measure
and add up
sugar spoons, liquors
café and/or té
no matter if you cook
or just ingest
little samples of own reflection
on a table
or a stove

when peace came into a dark drink with lots of sugar and bubbles

one of the most famous Coca-Cola commercials
just because
i have nothing more interesting to post
and a retro ghost came around last night...
heh heh

across the universe

i wonder if this film
will be as good as the music they perform in it
it always a dubious matter
this film business
we'll have to wait and see

falling, yes i am falling
and she keeps on calling me
back again

there are givers and the are takers in this life
i think, i am a giver
rather to give than to take
and you?
are you a giver?
or a taker?

the YOUTUBE people are takers!
i gave them all my silly little videos
and they took them all away
for a couple of violations
mostly my Simpsons chunks and some
Wallace & Gromit ones
my YOUTUBE account has been
permanently disabled!

ALL the silly videos i had there
gone with the wind too...

Deutsch macht Spaß

Eins zwei drei,
du bist frei.
Vier fünf sechs,
du bist weg.
Sieben acht neun,
du musst's sein.
Ich heiße Peter, du heißt Paul.
Ich bin fleißig, du bist faul...

Du bist faul!!!

if not...
then why are you reading this stupid blog?
heh heh
just a little joke
danke für den Klick!

and here a song
of mister Morrissey
who apparently is playing in Tijuana soon?
faraway so close! you are mister Morrissey
don't think i have time to cross the border...

his album Ringleader of the Tormentors
[from where this track is taken]
was one of my most listened albums of 2006

he's not The Smiths
but he was from The Smiths
and i think he still has it!

my favorite part of this song
guess 'cause it sounds sort of personal

If your god bestows protection upon you
And if the USA doesn't bomb you
I believe I will see you somewhere safe
Looking to the camera, messing around
and pulling faces.

Nobody knows what human life is.
Why we come, why we go.
So why then do I know
I will see you,
I will see you in far off places?

kiyo

kiyo
my half-moon betta fish
has this looong lovely
red tail
& ends in a very subtle tint
of lilac at some of the ends of it
very pretty!

i hope i can schedule a photo shot soon with him
i need to find a proper background and the proper light
and for sure
experiment with the
"subject in movement" setting of my camera
since this feisty red subject of mine
is anything but still...

he is probably the most quick-tempered
and moody but happy betta fish i've ever seen
he has so much energy
i think it helps that the plant in his bowl
is a living plant, there's a lot of algae to clean
every week in the rocks and the plant
he lives in Arrowhead or Evian water
depending on which one is on sale...
anyway, that's
kiyo's velvety red tail

The strange case of the fish dish that came out so tasty without having a proper recipe for it, a culinary mystery…

I didn’t plan this meal
I was just hungry and looked what I had in the refrigerator

I had some
- frozen fish
- a bag of sweet mini bell peppers (red, orange, and yellow)
- some small on-the-vine tomatoes

so, I thought, baked fish with vegetables, right?

I taw the fish, added about 3 cloves of garlic (yes! When it comes to garlic, the motto is the more, the better)
And 1 teaspoon of olive oil
And… right before putting in the oven
I remembered my fresh basil plant that I have outside…

I carefully cut about 10 little leaves and placed them on top of the uncooked dish
Ah& of course some fresh grounded pepper

About 12 minutes in the oven at 350 degrees, or was it 15?

The drink on the side
Geinmacha Japan green tea

Not a recipe, not a plan
But indeed the basil, was the hint that gave the dish that little spice…
what made it special
and wll the in-trance-shopped garlic, hmm, ja!

I realized how I enjoy sometimes to prepare my own meals
While chopping 3 cloves of garlic I abandoned myself
Like in a mild meditation, no music, no thoughts,
Just chopping garlic, for a meal
What a timeless & basic activity
The one of cooking

I do like melting into my little kitchen routines…
Times softens, thus the smells, so my eyes
In colors, and wonderful organic shapes…
And at the end
They all taste…

the chase of the peach window

early this summer
i had the chance to hang-out
with a very talented photographer
in an amazing city
i remember many photography-related episodes
they come & go from my head
happily
as if projecting old polaroids
on the wall of my soul
they appear in the least expected moments
when i am at at work meeting
but also they leave easily!
just like dreams
memories of the loved ones cannot be trapped
they come and go freely
yet
but one particular photographic episode
came to my mind just a few days ago...

i saw this window while walking by an alley
it was late and i just didn't feel comfortable getting out the camera on a dark alley...

the next night i drove by and remembered, ah the peach curtain!
hope the light is on again!, then 2 cars were parked there grrrr... but this time the window was a little open... ah!!!
it was nice after all
so i took the picture

and i remembered
the episode of him chasing a photo
the chase of the yellow umbrella
ah so lovely
if it would be for that episode
and the fun i had while seeing him
chasing his photo
probably i wouldn't have chase
these peach windows and rear view mirrors
a couple of nights ago

so comforting to find
such a natural like-minded
and easy going feeling
with somebody sharing the same
little idle passion...
so this one for you!
who has inspired on me
the photo-chasing
danke.

heat-heiß-hot

Es ist heiß!

they speculate
if today was the hottest
day of the year 2007
so far in San Diego

it sure felt like that
excruciating
sandwiched between
fan & fan
it was
still hot enough
to through you out of home

i wonder
the ikea aisles
no product search
but AC oxygen

near to the 100°C's
and tops
unmerciful sun!

the beach is the refugee for this weather
but in Labor Day weekend
the places are taken as early as 7am!
the beach is overflowing with people...

tomorrow, a bookstore
or downtown's library
or my friends perro's place
it sucks to have a day off
and have to runaway from home

Es ist heiß!

up to a late viewing
finally of this film
on dvd
Babel
since it is too hot
to sleep

more grasshopper babies

whoooa!
today i found
another baby grasshopper
i think
mr. & mrs. grasshopper
should get a TV
they are making too many babies

Born to multiply, born to gaze into night skies,
All you want’s one more Saturday...

another hot-humid day in san diego
remedy for this heat dullness
are the shins
from album wincing the night away

australia
'cause...

[sing it, read it / song & lyrics are great]
[cute little video too]

Time to put the earphones on…
No!

Born to multiply, born to gaze into night skies,
All you want’s one more Saturday.
But look here, until then
They’re gonna buy your nice time
So keep your wick in the air and your feet in the fetters
To the day.
You come in doing cartwheels
We all go out by ourselves
And your shape on the dance floor
Will have me thinking such filth and gauge my eyes.

You’d be damned to be one of us girl
Faced with a dodo’s conundrum
Ah, I felt like I could just fly
But nothing’ll happen every time I try.

A dual tone under wall
Selfish fool and hoped you’d save us all
Never dreamt of such sterile hands,
You keep them folded in your lap,
And raise them up to beg for scraps,
You know, he's holding you down,
With the tips of his fingers just the same,
You'll be pulled from the ocean,
But just a minute too late,
Or changed by a potion,
We’ll find a handsome young mate,
For you to love.

You'll be damned to pining through the windowpanes,
You know you'll change your life for any ordinary Joe,
And though your night will go on,
Your nightmares only need a year or two to unfold.

Been in love since you were twenty-one,
You haven't laughed since January,
You try and make this up this is so much fun,
But we know it to be quite contrary.

Dare to be one of us, girl,
Facing the Andrum's conundrum,
Ah, I feel like I should just cry,
But nothing happens every time I take one on the chin,
You’re humoring your cote,
You don't know how long I've been,
Watching the lantern dim,
Starved of oxygen,
So give me your hand,
And let's jump out the window.
