January has been an interesting and busy month
my mom spent some days here
my old friend Jaime from Monterrey / Mexico City visits http://www.brightlightbrightlight.com/
and i play with the cats...
among this, i read, and drink beers
the visual collection and recollection
of the dying 1st month of 2013
today at yoga we did a little Om exercise we chanted 3 really loud Oms followed by the 3 most delicate and quiet Oms we had
it was interesting how it was much easier to almost 'scream' the Oms than to chant them gently, kindly... the whole class shared the same feeling
the chanting experiment reminded me of a piece of lyrics from an old The Smitsh's song: I Know It's over i am not sure why, but a sentence from it ot stuck in my head a long time ago, 'It takes guts to be gentle and kind'
maybe 'cause i used to listen that CD endlessly, The Queen is Dead and Morrissey's lyrics/singing make each song an unforgettable piece like on this one
It's so easy to laugh It's so easy to hate It takes strength to be gentle and kind ... It's so easy to laugh It's so easy to hate It takes guts to be gentle and kind
a superb piece of some indie alternative rock philosophy? sure a very Zen and enlightened sentence full of an aloof dignity that conveys one to feel at peace, no matter what well, it does that for me
so, when i am mad sometimes and i wanna scream, or 'renegade' about life, complain to myself on one of those sulky states i sing to myself...
It's so easy to laugh It's so easy to hate It takes guts to be gentle and kind
and in my head, of course i hear Morrissey voice not mine
and tonight was not the case i was not angry, and not mad on the contrary but the chanting experiment reminded of the strength that quietness requires & maybe, next time you are mad you can sing it along too and transform the rage into forgiveness and the sadness into hope
the song is actually about a lost love a desperate broken-heart song but that's not the reason why i think of it it's only the It takes guts to be gentle and kind part, that got stuck but when i repeat it
the Oms roll quieter, smoother, and kinder like a wave done with her duty and gently retrieving to el mar
unwinding this week, for a Holiday weekend i get ready with a small beer, a pillow, and good sweet nights
and i am liking the digital macro of this canon-sita
the victim/model was a Spaten Optimator The classic German dark beer, bottom fermented 'Doppel Bock'. Flavor profile: Full bodied with a deep dark color and rich roasted malt flavor. Original gravity: 18, 2 % Alcohol content: 7,2 %
"Im Jahr 1995 hat die UNESCO den 23. April, den Todestag von Shakespeare und Cervantes, zum Welttag des Buches ausgerufen. Die Idee des Welttages geht auf eine alte Tradition in Katalonien zurück, wo an diesem Tag Buchstände auf den Straßen aufgebaut werden und rund um das Buch ein großes Fest gefeiert wird." -from an article in Deutschlernen.net
"23 April: a symbolic date for world literature for on this date and in the same year of 1616, Cervantes, Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega all died. It is also the date of birth or death of other prominent authors such as Maurice Druon, K.Laxness, Vladimir Nabokov, Josep Pla and Manuel Mejía Vallejo. It was a natural choice for UNESCO's General Conference to pay a world-wide tribute to books and authors on this date, encouraging everyone, and in particular young people, to discover the pleasure of reading and gain a renewed respect for the irreplaceable contributions of those who have furthered the social and cultural progress of humanity." -from the UNESCO page
and remember to always read! if you can't get a hold of the best selections read at least the back of the shampoo bottle remember there is always rooms for improvement and something new to learn es gibt immer etwas zu lernen just a year ago i had no idea how to say the phrase above in german or anything in german for that matter, but i started reading and going to class and now in 8 months i can say es gibt immer etwas zu lernen!! dann lesen Sie bitte weiter! please read something and after a good read enjoy das Bier des Tages the beer of the day la cerveza del día
this rather hoppy Czech Lager Brou Czech Lager ahhh! with some cheese and crackers very ala Wallace & Gromit mmm, cheese and crackers and books... mmm, wunderbar!
so i much enjoy the littleness of things the quiet fragrances of a humble cup of tea of a hot cup of café because the seconds the minutes of the light
of how a warm cup heats the space left in my hand to hold it
the warmth travels from the tea or the cafe all the way to my nose to my heart, the aromas or warm love the respect of making my own drinks my little Oms
every minute that i fret every minute that i breath and when i think of you or when i not or if smile, or get sad or have a bit collapse of mild or severe wrath
and middays sun and a small gift comes and go every day and every morning with the opportunity to live again and i run then to every midday fulfill with the aroma and preparation of my spontaneous escape a cup of sunny tea or some tasty meal
and surely i delight in this pretty view the prettiest tea i owe! an Earl Grey de la Creme the little blue flowers {if you are curious to click-look closer in the picture} are blue mallow blossoms they blink-blue and jump among the black leaves of the bulk
tea is always good a moist throat in case you talk... and good for sun strucken foreheads if i would know! living in California and with this big head of mine
and was on Sunday afternoon after enjoyed lunch too a salmon kabob on pita bread a $4.95 to go, big chunks of grilled salmon + fixtures with a Stockyard Oatmeal Stout maybe wasn't the best match of beer for the salmon, but it was the only one in the fridge...
and the matter after all was to enjoying the littleness of life nothing too sophisticated nor complex nor ambitious just a ray of sun filtering thru a glass of beer or warming up my cheap cup of pretty flowery tea
i got it from Trader Joe's probably my favorite grocery store
the "commercial" description here:
"Hofbrau" in German means "the brew of royalty." Trader Joe's Hof Brau Bock is a fine example of the regal brewing traditions still found in Germany today. This outstanding bock is golden in coclor, very rich and moderately hopped. 22 IBUS. Brewed with three types of imported malts, Hallertau aroma hops and lager yeasts.
And I would say... it was pretty decent for a grocery store beer
