San Diego Festival of Books

The 1st SD Festival of Books was a little great event! Lots of authors, local independent bookstores and I scored these lovely books! I wish I had more time to talk to local authors. But I already volunteered for Mercy for Animals 4 hours before I got to look around.
But I did meet Drew Andrews at the Verbatim booth. He signed his first novel (horror short tales) for me, I was gone by the time I read on his book that he is a local musician who has played with The Album Leaf and other bands.

The Vegan recipes books with Morrissey and Nick Cave are funny, recipes are based on song titles, my favorite is Moz arguing with the Cookie Monster over a vegan cookie :D
Can't wait to read David Lynch's Catching the Big Fish on working on film projects.
The James Patterson was for my neighbor Mike
.
I highly recommend you to visit Verbatim books in North Park!

Also I volunteered with Mercy for Animals! We did Paid-Per-View video viewing.
Where we pay people $1 to watch a video on Factory Farming and how Animals suffer and are killed for food :( I do hope more people become vegan after watching the video, many are shocked!

It was a great Saturday in San Diego!

Mercy for Animals Paid-Per-View

I miss blogging, too much Facebook and Twitter.
But today I make time to write about "PPV"
Paid-Per-Views are events where
we pay people $1 to watch a 4 min. video about animal agriculture
Most people have no idea all the suffering the animals
go through to make it to our "plates"
After the video, we talk to people and encourage them
to follow an animal-free vegan diet.
Most people want to go vegan or at least cut
meat consumption after the video.

The past 2 weekends I have volunteer with the
Mercy for Animals team at 2 Lunar Festivals
in San Diego, the Vietnamese and the Chinese festivals.

Here some photos:
Nancy Wheeler, our wonderful organizer talking to people at the Vietnamese Lunar Festival

Simon from Germany talking to people at the Vietnamese Lunar Festival

Great to see some live hens and chickens, not in plates!
