earthquake in San Diego, 7.2

as Easter Sunday rolls in
the land started to shake

Recent earthquakes near San Diego, California

Time Magnitude Location
1 hour ago 5.4 Baja California, Mexico
1 hour ago 5.1 Southern California
2 hours ago 7.2 Baja California, Mexico
from earthquake.usgs.gov

the 7.2 shake was pretty scary
i must confess i am still a bit shocked

aftershocks have been following the whole afternoon
here detailed updates

sure! i panic a bit
i cook soup and do errands to distract me but
i have my water bottles and gatos food handy on
a bag by my door, a flash light, and other goodies

dunno if it's 'cause i was in Mexico City in '85
but this one really freaked me out
waiting that on the next 72 hours that everything settles

and even if freaked out
i couldn't resist sharing this one

my eyebrows hurt (the sandwiches and vermouth edition)

yes!
i know it sounds idiotic
but my eyebrows hurt!
not the hair itself
but more the bones that go
right behind the line of the eyebrow

a strange pain, like a muscular pain
not itchy, the skin not sore, and not a headache
really... but
just... pain?

oh my eyebrows!
ach meine Augenbrauen!
¡ay ay mis cejas!
[this translation made me laugh
i am such an idiot translating this
but i laugh, hope you too!]

mmm? i've been working a lot with
Photoshop and dealing with a
detailed image today, and i squint my eyes
sometimes a lot...
and i read a good load of Deutsch last night
'cause i had der Kapitel 9 Test

and it's April's Fool
April! April!
[...in Deutschleid heh heh]

so anyway, this day did fool me
and end up being... the day!
the day...
of the fool-me eyebrow pain

still hurts!

and i wrote something about this day
on a piece of paper at school
a sentimental note and then i couldn't find it
some kid at school might be laughing over me now
or worse, just on the floor, so...

so i will drink a vermouth
i don't think people drink vermouth straight anymore
i drink it straight, but with ice
my mother says it's an old's people drink
but i have a vermouth once or twice a week

my favorite one is Cinzano
but this one Di Torino Rosso that i found
at Trader Joe's is pretty decent, not the best
but not like there is a lot to judge over a vermouth
or is there?
...
Il Vermouth è un vino aromatizzato vecchio di...6000 anni...

and yes... technically my mother called me old
yes, i might behave stubbornly old-er sometimes
manchmal manchmal...
a veces, a veces...

so that's why i cure myself with these
sandwiches
oh sand-wi-ches, like that, slow... and soft
thank you John!, Earl of Sandwich
for this rather international mouthwatering word
with no translation required word...

el pajarito de Autlán

While I was in Autlán
This little bird felt from his nest

My mother has this beautiful garden
Visited every day by many birds
Therefore, she is used to this sort of accidents

She already has a shoe-box prepared to keep
Fallen birds warm
She made a hole all across the box
And she put a tree branch across it
And a piece of cloth to keep the little birds warm

For 2 days while I was there
She fed the bird with a paste made out of masa
(the corn dough for making tortillas) & water

around 3pm of the second day
and with the bright Autlán sun shinning high
we took the box with the bird
to the main garden
we left the box half open
specially since he was singing loud
after a couple of minutes
the mother appeared and after falling a couple of times
the little bird was able to follow her to the nest again

unfortunately I didn’t take a movie of that!
But here is the feeding process
And my mother, her kitchen
(watch the movie till the end for a full view)
And that beautiful memory of some bright
Days with a little bird in Autlán

am Telefon

sometimes
it is fun
to leave cheerful messages
at your dear friend's phone
heh heh heh

this photo, from a couple of weeks ago
can't believe it is already april!
time flies these days
as life, in sun & smiles & spring beginnings,
day by day, magically goes

April played some jokes on me yesterday
it made a fool of me the whole day!

About 10am – internet’s connection is down
(upgrading services, blah blah blah, tech support said tonight)

oh but I got a movie via NetFlix
The Departed!
so, yeah I am going to watch it
and watched almost the whole movie
but…
out of 37 chapters on the DVD
the damn DVD broke on chapter 35!!!
I am about 8 minutes from the freaking ending
And the stupid DVD got a clinch
So far, I haven’t seen the ending
I returned the DVD on the mail and I am waiting for a replacement
In a couple of days, to watch the last 8 minutes of a 2hrs 35 minutes film
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
damn damn damn!
and soon I'll be 38... mmm?
old & unlucky lady today i am...
