Hallo Berenice,
I see you got your good look from your mom! :o)

Hope you gals had a good celebration on Mother's Day. Mine was out of the country, or I'd have forced her to go to the opening night of Puccini's Madama Butterfly with me (and then she'd have been instantaneously converted into an opera fan and realized that opera-going can be a physically strenuous activity... we shouted ourselves hoarse and clapped our hands raw at the prima donna. She was wonderful!) ;o)

Hope you and M. Le Pew are enjoying the gorgeous weather!

Cheerio,
Smorg :o)

hola mister Smorg

thank you! for your nice words, actually my mom lives in Autlán, México so I only got to talk to her over the phone this mother's day...

and yeah! I don't go to the Opera often, maybe I should, huh? but every time I go to concerts (mostly indie & rock) the whole thing can be rather tiring indeed

hey mister Smorg, have you ever been to the Walt Disney Hall in downtown Los Angeles? a wonderful place indeed, I am sure the LA Philharmonic must present some Opera events as well

I've been reading your blog, don't think I haven't, so haven't get a chance to comment on your Religion post, but let me tell you, I think you are a brilliant writer :D

and YES!!! San Diego is treating us superbly these days, wonderful weather indeed, a little cloudy and shy in the mornings, then beautiful sunny crisp air, followed by bit chilly sweater-like evenings, I think this weekend will be warmer, but we can surely take a little warm

as for mister Le Pew, funny I didn't get to see any skunks last night, but from the same plate, a little Possum was eating instead, I've been seeing a lot of young possums and skunks, as well, as small birds, must be that time of the year when things are born

take care and have a wonderful Sandiegan day!

Thanks, Bere. Since she is still very young, I was just taking care of her and couldn't do anything to rest but it was fun to see Saskia. :-) It is a gift to have a child.

Hallo bela Bere,
Yep, you should really try to catch Madama Butterfly on either the 17th or the 20th. It's really a great show featuring perhaps the best Butterfly on the planet right now. :o) Normally if you show up at Civic Theater box office an hour before showtime there may be rush tickets to be had for only $20 (though, for this show the only thing might be the $50 rush ticket for the orchestra section. The balcony and mezzanines have been sold out by then so far).

I have only seen that Disney Concert Hall from the outside (and didn't take a photo of it. Argghhh! I was young and stupid, what can I say? ;op). I was up there in November of 2006 for a Monteverdi opera at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion across the street and Disney Hall is really eye-catching. It was closed, though, so I didn't get to go in. I didn't know anything about it then, but thought it looked very much like the Gugenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain (never been there either... but remember it from that Bond film, The World Is Not Enough).

Hey! Thanks a bunch for kind words about my ramblings. :o) I was sure I'd be ticking a lot of people off with the two (un)religion posts, actually. So far there hasn't been any lightning strike near my pad, so I think the possibility of a god, at least, isn't ticked with me. That's a good thing, ay? ;o)

San Diego sure has the best weather all the time! It was sort of gray and cool in downtown today, but I still like it. Being from the Midwest, when I can walk around this time of year without hearing any wind, I'm very happy!

And you're even being visited by the possums! Really, Berenice, you're reminding me of Mark and Delia Owens. They are a couple of conservation biologists who went to live among the wild beasts in the Kalahari desert in Africa in the 70's and 80's. I've been reading their books and the have some really awesome photos of living among the lions and hyenas. It makes me want to go into biology and go live in Africa.... But then I'm a little too attached to the flush toilet and bubble bath for it. ;o)

Hope your weekend has started well!
