wishlist 2010, item 3, Nadav Kander's Yangtze – The Long River

my third wish list item for this year's list
is yet another beautiful book
Nadav Kander: Yangtze, The Long River

this is a wish that might come true next year
depending on my economical situation
the book is not that expensive, but is not out yet in the US
actually, i would love to only be able to watch
the wonderful prints, more than even own the book

here some information on photographer Nadav Kander
and his website http://www.nadavkander.com/

The Guardian UK has a very interesting review of the book
"The river," writes Kander, "is embedded in the consciousness of the Chinese, even for those who live thousands of miles from it. It plays a significant role in the spiritual and physical life of the people."

and to see some of the beautiful prints

now if you feel compelled to send this book as a
Christmas or New Year's gift for your friend blogger here
please send me an e-mail and i will send you back
my mailing address ;)

Christmas is almost here! and i still believe in Santa
i've been a good woman all year, so this book and the other
wishes from the list, might just appear at my doorstep
on Christmas morning, eh?

Holà Berenice,

You certainly have been a good woman during 2010 and maybe even a good girl. This being so, maybe destiny will prevent you from having this book.

I looked into all links and all photos available and can't help thinking this might saddle you with a melancholic strain during 2011. Abord, abord, abord.

If you really need to look at good photos depicting Mother Earth, have a look at this link, good old Bertrand makes splendid photos

http://www.yannarthusbertrand2.org/
but he abstains from showing us the shit the Chinese are creating at home while trying to sell us cheap stuff that doesn't last long.

Good luck my dear and remember "abstain, abstain, abstain".

Georg

Herr Georg, thank you always for your superb notes and your inspiration.. that's a great link you shared, thank you!! yet i must argue that i LOVE the book i chose, if you read what these Chinese photographs are about and what's the sense of the book, then you'll realize that the "somber" mood is to match... do read the Guardian review and you'll see why!

thank you again to everybody and i am really thankful to you all for reading this blog and blessing me with your lovely comments!

please keep on visiting me! and please keep on posting all the interesting things you all do on your respective blogs
