today i became member of Greenpeace
of course it would've been much more interesting
and rather defiant of me
to have done it about 20 years ago
when the pro-environmental fighting was a real physical fight
and not a logged-in entry over the internet
oh! nowadays it is so easy to be a 'revolutionary' and a 'fighter'!
it just takes a lousy donation and to sign a couple of online petitions
one can be conveniently seated over one's own overweight ass
typing comfortably eating snacks while
stopping the cruelty and disdain with which we treat this beautiful planet, the amazing animals who inhabit it,
and ultimately our-stupid-selves
of course i'd love to be fighting right now the cold coasts of Alaska
in spite of this cold and cough
stopping US nuclear tests on a drafty boat
as the initials heroes did back on the early 70's
but oh well, one does what one's drive is capable of,
which is not much...
if you are interested and have a light or a heavy ass
and enjoy feeling like a hero and think you are defending
your ideas just 'cause you type a bunch of nonsense in a blog
much like me, then

and if by any chance you are less lazy than that
then you can actually volunteer your time and real efforts and
go physically to places where you are required and 'fight',
this beautiful planet that actually feeds you with
precious oxygen about 20,000 times per day
might just thank you back, by feeding you and letting you
still breath...

are to start eco-terrorizing my stupid neighbors
who cannot seem to stop littering around here

We all do what we can Bere... and that's usually not enough, but I do note that you just did a really positive action, and you spread the word of Greenpeace on your blog... which is fantastic - and then felt terribly guilty and lazy about it!
I do relate to that though. I joined Amnesty and then felt guilty for the last 20 years of not having been a member, and all I haven't done... maybe it's like opening a can of worms - once you see inside, you realise how massive the picture is...

thanks for your kind words, and your lovely ranting is truly appreciated! and yep you got it!! right with the feeling of the can of worms recently opened, and the self-questioning of why not have done it before... i guess is part of this endless search of meaning in life, trying to do the things we think are right, and yes!! I hope if some people read about Greenpeace here might get a bit more interested... thanks for your encouragement and i guess at least from now i'll try to be a 'good Greenpeacer' ha! whatever that means, huh?
and great that you enrolled Amnesty! another great organization, glad you are up there to fight for human rights too

Congratulations on your new start! Well, I heard about Greenpeace quite often. But your mentioning a "good Greenpeacer" seems to mean that you're aware of its reputation.
I think that ends do not always justify means.

thanks for your kind words, yes! it feels good to have again some sort of plans... and i agree with you about the end not justifying means, but sometimes desperation and lack of attention drives us humans to fight! not the best way to get things done, but it's hard to deal with stubborn people who doesn't care but about their own interests, right?
