Secondary character

I always thought I didn't mind

Being a secondary character

in the novel of my own life

Not much spotlight needed

I declared

but this solitude the no cats

no family, just a few old

and yet not so solid new friends

the books the life the music

but then

fortuna locks me in this country

when a chance of family encounter came

I am trapped behind the country's walls & fence

I will miss my little 1/2 sister and her baby

Friends coming later

but what's with this heart pang, anyway?

Tik Tok Frau Kitty

 Tik Tok Tik Tok

Seated at my office at work

Where I don’t come often anymore

Once a week, or so

The pandemic and so on

Working from home…

And the life, the life, it goes on

But for many, it stopped

It stopped for my beloved Frau Kitty

13 years ago, she came to my door

And she stayed, and I loved her so much

And for many more, the Covid patients,

And the accidents on the roads

One my bosses, this lady I had work for 18 years or so

Collapsed and her life hangs on the hands of destiny or God

Tik Tok Tik Tok

life goes on

but for many, don’t

Time is what never stops

It passes, all we can count on

Live while possible

While your clock still goes

Tik Tok Tik Tok

Frau Kitty, RIP my beautiful girl

Vegan biscotti and life gifts

Life gives you little surprises. I met Nancy 2 years ago at the vegan Thanksgiving potluck, she lives around the corner of my house. Many times I wondered when we would run into each other. A little background, I have been stressed, angry, sick, and disappointed the past couple of weeks (mostly at the world, you know? Politics, people eating animals 😡). But after talking to my dear friend Izabela, I had a switch of heart, kindness, spirituality, metaphysics, all the things that were really important to me in Mexico City started coming back to me... so what happens? I walk out my door and there is Nancy with one of her older pugs. I recognized the EG letters on her tee under her sweatshirt, the full message was VEGAN. So we talked and reconnected, I was on my way out but when I came back home, she left me a beautiful box with homemade baked vegan biscotti, I haven't had biscotti since I became a vegan. So life reminded me that I have a more positive view, which btw is more in my nature, gifts will be given 💓

Being Vegan

Being a vegan is the best thing that has happened to me, there is an inner peace to it and I get to eat pizza, donuts, cake, bean burritos & burgers with fries & shakes! While wearing beautiful shoes, purses, and cosmetics that didn't hurt anybody else. Try it! It is much easier than what you think. #GoVegan #smile #care #love

crows

Sad day, there are 2 crows around the office,
remember the crows back from 2006?
not sure if they are the same ones, probably
often I leave them Ezekiel back slices of bread
and left over fruit.
Friday morning I only saw 1 crow and was calling desperate,
making loud noises, never saw the other crow coming.
Friday evening, I saw a 'murder of crows',
crows get together to mourn a bird lost from the flock.
[watch this great PBS documentary on crows]

Today there was only 1 crow again.
He came when he saw me, they recognize me,
I left some apple for him,
I am afraid he lost his couple RIP crow #2
pict from 2006, older post on crows around the office
Animals Grieve, they have feelings,
they mourn their families and have complex connections.

All those animals living in factory farms,

chickens, pigs, cows, or the ones in the so-called 'humane' farms
know when a member of their family is dead.

Please stop eating the animals,

it is NOT necessary for you to survive and to be a healthy person
(on the contrary), don't make them go through this time

why bacon, sausages and pork are evil

from the Mercy for Animals blog:

Breaking News:
Pork Industry Turns Pigs Into Shit Eating Cannibals
Complete Story Here
Today, The Humane Society of the United States released horrifying hidden-camera video footage of pigs being fed diarrhea and the ground up intestines of their own piglets at a factory farm in Kentucky - Iron Maiden Hog Farm. Although the practice of feeding pig guts and shit to other pigs is common on industrial farms across the country, it is illegal under state law.

The video, which was profiled by The New York Times, also shows mother pigs crammed into filthy metal cages so small they can't even turn around or lie down comfortably for nearly their entire lives. Seemingly without irony, the facility is named after a medieval torture device by which human victims were confined in a metal box barely larger than their own bodies.

Watch the graphic undercover video here:
this is your sausages, your bacon, your ham!!

animals do not want to die

"Animals are sentient and
do know they are going to die!
You can see how this one cow
just don't want to go in there because
he knows death awaits him.
How heartbreaking!"
You can stop this! Go Vegan!
Stop the meat industry! #animals #veganism #death
I am scared and don't want to die.
Think of this video the next time you are about to eat
a cow, a pig, a chicken, or a fish.
Any & all meat are murder for a dish you body
doesn't really need. Think about it!

vegan food

these are some of my simple every day vegan dishes

avocado sandwich with green onions, cilantro, tomatoes on sprouted bread

fresh fruit and raw veggies are a great snack, easy to find organics in California

vegan lemonade, with maple syrup, organic lime juice and the secret ingredient: ground fresh ginger for a spicy touch!

the juicing basket! except for the avocado, I eat avocados often, California is the land of the avocados!

kale, white mushrooms, walnuts and blueberries salad with homemade vinaigrette, it was fantastic!

one of my favorite dishes, homemade veggie soup!

me and death

i try to forget about her
but she keeps on appearing, everywhere

there's a small young possum dead
trapped under my back door
half body in, half body out
but completely dead

and my neighbor's cat...
and this mysterious pain in my breast

when i breath
when i care
when, for the cats, i search

i keep on being reminded
of how fragile life is
and of the constant menace
she is, always

'cause where there's life
and there's hope
she likes to lurk
to ensnare!

i wish i could
about her, forget
but as soon as i misrecollect her
she comes forth again!

she's a constant threat

please please
oh death!
do go away
i'd like to breath
i'd like to forget

old dark photo

last night my neighbor's cat Penny
got sting by a bee
she got into Anaphylactic shock
and almost died

she's still fighting for her
little meowing life

so today is a dark day

but, even if veterinary bills are
over expensive, we hope that she
can see the little at the end of a
very dark tunnel

which reminded me of this very old photo
i took through my dirty window

please say a prayer for little Penny

there goes the fear

today has been a bit of a strange day
the reminders of death linger in the air
again

i feel that i've never been one afraid of dying
i felt safe & secure while reaching the older age
and even if i enjoy life, i never was fearful
of leaving this world before, but now... and
lately, so many deaths have happened
all in this year, the fragility of life
more than ever reveals to me so evident
2009 has been such a deathly year!

to list in chronological order, to match
the title of the blog, my fish pet Kiyo,
my father, only 17 days later after seeing him,
my friend Tina's dad, my best friend's cat,
who was my friend too, Boa,
my friend Tina's dog Einstein
who i used to dog-sit for,
less related but shocking too
Farrah Fawcett, whose fan i was
when i was a very young teenager 'cause
the Charlies Angels TV series which I grew up with
and i washed my hair for at least 3 years with her
shampoo and c'mon!!!
even Michael Jackson dies!!
i am not a Michael Jackson follower
but his presence on the musical back of my life
was there, as it was on mostly every body who ever
heard his name, it made his name one of those
things that you took for granted
and i wrote in my Facebook acc (yes! i am a
Facebook added now...) i do have a couple
of favorite Michael Jackson songs

Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough
a masterful piece of funk and disco
my favorite Michael Jackson song!
i still think that Off the Wall is his best album
here a good review of the song
and he's so lovely in the video
he was a freaking good song writer!
along the line of Don't Stop 'Til...
i liked the starter of Thriller a lot
the freakish paranoid lyrics too
of Wanna Be Startin Somethin
aren't so pop at all
i can only imagine
how hard must to be to sing this fast
while dancing like that...

but anyway, i wasn't writing about MJ really
but so with all these deaths around
and after seeing a co-worker loosing her job today
unexpectedly, just as Jacko Wacko died,
the fear of dying climbs my spine cord
and even if, of course, i am afraid of what
happens on the after life, my fear is not so much
of going, but of what i leave behind
my fear is mostly driven 'cause of
the 2 wonderful furry cats i take care of!!
never before them i was afraid to die
i was even a little cocky when it came to talk about death
but now... i understand parenthood so much better!
i am afraid of dying 'cause without me, i am not sure
what would happen to the cats!

at 40, i am discovering feelings i never had before
i feel for once the responsibility of having
a creature depending on you, sure i grew up
with my lovely dog Filka, a medium size poodle,
lovely, fluffy, white... but being me a child, and
an adolescent at the end of her life,
well my mom took more care of her than myself
and i did have cats before in Mexico
who, sadly, i had to leave to move here, but
i guess i was younger, bolder, and self-assured
and a bit naive

i understand now fully how my mother always felt
while i was growing up
she used to tell me, that every night she prayed
for not dying before i came out of school
she was funny about it too
she said she started asking God
"please keep me alive at least until my daughter
finishes elementary school..."
later she modified the prayer:
"God please keep me alive at least until my daughter
finishes 'junior high' or 'secundaria' as we call it
in Mexico, later on she kept on praying
for not dying while i was a high-school
or before i had at least a Bachelors' degree
then she added to the list, as i grew older,
to not die before i got married,
or before i had a child

i think she gave up now on me getting married
and having children, but sure every day
she's around this earth i feel luckier to have her around
even if so geographically apart
dunno why, maybe 'cause there goes the fear again
but today i loved and appreciated a little more
every single person in my life...
'cause lately i've realized
how easy could be for any of them or I
to forget that little trick of
breathing in and breathing out
how easy this might be the last time
we look at the skies!

so i am every day more grateful
for being alive
and to cure the little fears
and scare away der old Angst
a song by the Doves
where i stole the title from

PS. and now i have to start
writing a Kitty-Will, ha!
and finding a guardian for the cats
for when i die, i guess that's
what responsible citizens do
for the ones they love
what a way to grow up
thanks to a couple of alley cats ;)
