PBS Nature

Nature | PBS is one of my favorite TV shows ever! This episode on Animal Reunions with the humans who took care of them will bring tears of joy.
Animals are amazing creatures, much more "civilized" than humans; they are all heart & emotion. We must learn from animals and we must protect them, not eat them, wear them and abuse them. Please be kind and respectful of all animals!
You can watch the entire episode here:

Farm Sanctuary and Gentle Barn

This past Sunday I had the joy to travel
to Acton, California, to visit 2 animal sanctuaries.
Farm Sanctuary and Gentle Farm
are places where rescued farmed animals live
in peace, not worried about being eaten by humans.

Most animals living on these places have been
rescued from slaughter houses, or fallen from
a slaughter truck, or horse racing, etc.

Seeing real animals ALIVE makes the connection
between your brain and your heart:
How can we eat these beautiful gentle creatures?
Most cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, goats and sheep
were as kind and gentle as our pet animals, cats & dogs.

Here some pictures & videos, but more coming soon!

Christians do you care for God's creation?

I came across a great article today:
http://thefederalist.com/2016/08/19/the-plight-of-egg-laying-chickens-illustrates-whats-wrong-with-factory-farms/
http://thefederalist.com/2016/08/19/the-plight-of-egg-laying-chickens-illustrates-whats-wrong-with-factory-farms/

So many Christians worry about being "kind"
being "holy" and "respectful"
and they forgot about God's creation and animals
Please read the entire article and these quotes:

“Christians and conservatives should contemplate their participation in a food system that undermines their understanding of the reality and nature of our world.”

We Have a Responsibility to Care for Creation

“Christian tradition establishes man’s preeminence of the created order. Formed from the dust of the ground, man’s oldest ancestor was made imago dei. God blessed the universe and its contents, and gave them to man as gifts. As the beneficiaries of these gifts, God instructed man to be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, and subdue it. He was called to exercise dominion over creation and faithfully steward its fruits.

In light of this dominion mandate found in the book of Genesis, consuming animal products is certainly within man’s prerogative. However, subjugating farm animals to the whims and will of industrial man is an abdication of man’s responsibility to the Creator. The grotesque images found on the factory farm do not reflect faithful stewardship of the created order. These images, instead, reflect selfish domination.”

Animals

Way too many dead animals, at zoos, at testing facilities, at schools, at homes, at slaughterhouses... what are we doing? We are just grabbing animals & killing them by billions!!! Aren't we supposed to be the 'evolved' species? ‪#‎heartbreaking‬

Rainy Thursday quote

“He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men. We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals.”

Rescue dogs in 9/11

I have just arrived to the USA in late 2000
from hectic violent Mexico City which was MY city
but a man showed me a gun once and the city
was just getting impossible to live in...

San Diego appeared to me as a paradise beach city
quiet, calm, and for once, I worked just 2 blocks from
the apartment I was renting, very close to Balboa Park

I was very lucky and found a position as Creative Director
at the San Diego Blood Bank, at first, I didn't
appreciate the job... working at a non-profit
helping 'save lives', how arrogant I was...

but then it came the saddest morning of any September,
the TV was on while I was getting ready to go to work
the news this time, instead of cartoons, or and old b&w film...
I heard about a plane crash... nobody knew what happened
why a plane crashed into one of the twin towers?
and live I saw it... another plane crashed too!!
now, we know this is not an accident, is not a coincidence...
it is extreme violence and hate at its worst...

I ran to the Blood Bank, by the time I got there,
barely 20 minutes after the attack,
my boss at the community relations dept had issued
a press conference, calling all San Diego blood donors
to give blood in order to help the victims in New York City...

I will never forget the lines of donors surrounding the
building to help, for weeks, donor kept coming.
Strange how the worst in humanity,
woke up the best in humanity, strange twisted species we are

The San Diego Blood Bank was the 1st blood bank to
help the victims of NYC...

And today, I remember all those dogs what we barely saw
on TV or read about, the most selfless species and the closest
to us cruel humans, here this wonderful article and
picture of real heroes, the ones that only get paid with a pet
a smile and love, selfless tender creatures
today I write and remember the rescue dogs of 9/11.

Bretagne, Last Known Living 9/11 Search & Rescue Dog Honored With Dream Day

I am sure she wasn't afraid, as dogs are pure love and will do anything to help!

Heroes on four legs, with fur and tails
Peace, peace love, love.
Never war, never murder.
Please humans stop killing each other.
Please stop eating the animals!
Let's all species of this planet unite and help each other.
Not kill and eat each other.

Animal Agriculture and Our Planet

Intensive  Animal Agriculture uses more water
than any other activity and is one of the leading
sources of greenhouse emissions.
We can all heal the planet and ourselves.
As easy as becoming a vegan.

Graphic and content from Truth or Drought
" World-renowned nutrition scientist and creator of the glycemic index Dr. David Jenkins in The Globe and Mail on why he advocates shifting to a plant-based vegan diet: "Human health must be linked to planetary health, and how we feed ourselves has a major impact on the planet...Our children and future generations will be horrified that collectively we paid no attention to these issues."

Pirates and slaves

Last week I went to the exhibition of Real Pirates
this was an exhibit based on a real pirate ship that sank in Massachusetts, the Whydah...
http://www.sdnhm.org/exhibitions/past-exhibitions/real-pirates/
I learn so much about pirates and I turn to admire them,
they robbed mostly Slave Ships,
then they set free the slaves and make them part of their crew,
most pirate ships had at least a 60% crew of slaves,
indian americans, latin people,
and they always split their gold in equal parts &
had elections to choose captains...
I learn also a lot about slavery...
the slave ships, now the resemblance between
human slavery and what we do now
with the animals was an uncanny painful part
before it was humans
now it is animals
overcrowded and abused
overcrowded and abused
entire families suffering abuse for others profit
intelligent beings being abuse for food

Love animals?

Love Animals?
Then why EAT them?
Why WEAR them?
And make them play tricks?
If you really love animals,
re-think your relationship with them!

We are all beings. We are all the same.

"We are all beings. We are all the same.
Why and how did the animals get to be "chosen" as being food,
clothing and anything else used for exploitation?
We have so much to learn from them.
They are all love."

~Ellen Ericksen, Animal Activist, Vegan.

Take Extinction Off Your Plate

Taken from: http://www.takeextinctionoffyourplate.com/
"Meat production is one of the main drivers of environmental degradation globally, and the crisis is rapidly growing worse. Production of beef, poultry, pork and other meats tripled between 1980 and 2010 and will likely double again by 2020. This ever-increasing meat consumption in a world of more than 7 billion people is already taking a staggering toll on wildlife, habitat, water resources, air quality and the climate. And Americans eat more meat per capita than almost anyone else. By eating less or no meat, we can take extinction off our plates and improve our own health along with the health of the planet."

parents of the planet

among all the pain and suffering
we humans inflict on animals,
there is beauty being born again
in each one of them everyday,
we are the 'parents' of this planet!
with all our technology, intelligence and resources,
we owe the planet and nature ALL our respect and our care...
do something today for the other inhabitants of this planet,
the ones with no phones, no internet,
but with an instinctive basic love for life,
do something for the animals!
