first we became broke
& now
we are on fire
again!
is this the end of the Golden State?
glad i've enjoyed for almost 10 years now
living here
'cause the dream is coming close to an end
it's more like a nightmare everyday
and then again
when i see how wasteful American people have become
claiming expensive technology to survive
that we cannot afford, use cell phones and flat screen TVs
but not for productivity but for "fun"
& then eating all the crap we can and see around
and driving over-sized cars in the freeways
living in houses full of empty luxury but lacking
education and morals... men caring about having money
but not on how it is obtained...
women with fake nails, and over-colored hair
and stupid men falling for them, and their boobs that
are huge, but fake...
as all seems to be in the US these days
even if one is not so religious
one feels compelled to think
is this some sort of ala Sodoma-Gomorrah punishment?
since most of the people are now lacking some
goddamn common sense!!!
maybe we are getting what we deserve...
or as Ignatius J. Reilly would say in one of my favorite
American novels of all times, people seem to be
lacking "theology" and "geometry"
read the excerpt:
Several of the outfits, Ignatius noticed, were new enough and expensive enough to be properly considered offenses against taste and decency. Possession of anything new or expensive only reflected a person's lack of theology and geometry; it could even cast doubts upon one's soul.'
~A Confederacy of Dunces, John Kennedy Toole
not sure, but hey! hope you've enjoy the fun
and wasting while it lasted you, 'cause now
we are as screwed (or worse) than any 3rd world country
and it's useless to blame the government, or the institutions
or the weather, or anybody else...
at the end, the only ones responsible for all this are
ourselves!!! (this stupid thumb-opposable human race)
which seems never to learn from its mistakes
A Confederacy of Dunces we indeed have been
when i read about assholes such as the idiot of
Kim Jong Il (should be Ill)
and other members of this race, i look at my cats
and apologize to them for being another human
oh if i had feathers or fur, probably i would be
more natural and healthy/helpful to this Earth...
and i wonder
why Dinosaurs became extinct? with their big bodies
and small brains they seemed to handle much better
this wonderful planet Earth than we do now-a-days
i say, let the roaches or the ants, or the bees
we are killing, rule this world!
they do know organization and hard work much better
than most people walking on the streets these days
and are much more considerate too!
anyhow, the scenes from Los Angeles on fire
are devastatingly sad, hoping that we Californians
can rescue the little that is left...
downtown Los Angeles and its cloud of smoke from the surrounding fires

The bottom line is that we have the intelligence to manipulate our environment and create endless gadgets and luxuries, but lack the wisdom to use any of that in a responsible matter.... Anyway, hope the fires are keeping far away from you in San Diego...
ahhh yes Dr. Jay!! it took a good English teacher like you to organize my messy thought, THANK YOU!! and yes, that's the bottom line
have a lovely day in Philly, so far so good here in San Diego, NO fires too close...
Whew! Wasn't it nice to see clouds looking up in the sky today. :o) I hope the little cool down is having a good effect on your week, Bere. That was one bully of a heatwave we had, ay?
Have to agree with you that the people ultimately responsible for the sad state of things here is us... I don't know when we had devolved into a society that park our 40 lbs overweight butt on the couch, waste whole weekends in front of the tv while whining about everything in between bites of fatty pizza before throwing the empty beer cans out the window (while muttering about how the street sweeper can't keep the sidewalks clean). :oP Somehow it seems like Americans were a lot more proactive back in the 40's and 50's.
Anyhow... man.. the wild fire season sure started really early this year. It's only the 1st week of September. I hope those folks to the east of us are clearing out their dry bushes!
Greetings from smoggy downtown SD! ;o)
hola mister Smorgy! yeah, it's been a little better with the heat, but it's still going on! for the 1st time i rather be at work than at home, we have full A/C here...
and yes! you are very right, the Americans from the 40's/50's were so much hard-working! and sadly this seems to be a global trend, the laziness of body & soul... i don't even see how never generations can get inspired...
and it's true, when i was a child living in Mexico, i remembered we regarded the US and the BEST place for everything! the best doctors? ah they are in the US, the best technicians for everything and anything, the American ones... etc. and sadly this image of a great country has changed so much... i do admire regular every-day American people, they are hard-workers, clever people, so i just hope we recover the path to what's a truly successful life, that has not much to do with money after all, although it does count... I keep home in the US anyways...
and hope the fires don't get worse! we have our dose in 2003 and '07 in San Diego, so i hope not this year...
You are an old blogger, as i see (since 2006). I rarely see old bloggers. The common people can't keep a blog so long. So, my best wishes to you in order to keep it as long as you can...
