too much Baumkuchen?

not sure if one can have much of this
wonderful german cake

oh baumkuchen!

but i ate almost a whole 1
this weekend and then
and i was so lazy!
couldn't and didn't
do too much for 2 whole days
initiative abandoned me
and if any appeared
was just to call for more
baumkuchen

mmm? took over my will
the darn great cake

and strange...
'cause then at the touch
of caffeine this Monday morning

i had a free-way drive
full of epiphanies
yellow epiphanies over
dark gray freeway 15 pavement

colors and rays of light
as i drove

crumbs, and sweets, and breads
to exchange for your soft real embrace

gray pavement
and more yellow lights
tomorrow
as i will drive again

Hi, Bere. We just got back from Japan yesterday. How are you? Getting ready to go to work. It is funny because in Japan Baumkuchen is common and you can buy it in 7/11 like places. I was thinking of buying one but I didn't. I like it too. These are great German Tree Cake. Remember the time I used to study German. :-)

Tach Bere,

I don't like Baumkuchen. Each year, friends and family from Germany feel compelled to send me some and I don't dare to tell them the terrible truth.

*The pox on Baumkuchen. Prefer "Sachertorte" or "Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte". But I don't get it!

hola Georg
hey what a sad story that you don't like Baumkuchen, heh heh, I just was introduce to it this year! and i really liked the soft texture, a little spongy but not overly sweet as American cakes can be... and how bad you don't like them and still receiving so many! do they go to waste? i hope maybe your wife likes them! otherwise i should forward you my mailing address :)))

oh and i am not familiar with this kind of cake Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte, but i am going to run a Google search and when i go back to Germany i will sure find it, thanks for the name! German cakes and pastries are something that worth the "research" as I am sure you'll agree...

Hallo Bere,

Here is a link in English for the "Black Forest Cherry Cake":

http://www.germanculture.com.ua/library/weekly/aa022801a.htm

Hope it will not come to you in a garbled form (I mean the link). This kind of cake can be found everywhere, even at Macy's but there is no guarantee to quality. Most of those cheap cakes economize on the cherry alcohol.
